| Enjoy a family holiday in the Mekong Island as you explore its spotless beaches and fruit orchards. Drive from Saigon past Ben Luc, Tan An and Chau Thanh to the Mekong Delta. Take a boat ride and explore the Mekong Delta, its mangrove forest and quaint fishing villages. Situated in the southern most region of Vietnam, Mekong has rice fields and plantations stretching as far as the eye can see. It is popularly known as Vietnam’s ‘bread basket’ and produces rice to feed the whole country. Further on, visit the Unicorn Island, also known as ‘Thoi Son’ Island and see fruit orchards and palm-fringed shores lined with wooden fishing boats. Visit factories producing honey and coconut candy. The next stop is Phoenix Island where you can listen to interesting stories about the Coconut Monk who led a small community here until his imprisonment and the consequent dispersion of his flock. Travel southwest past Vinh Long and then across the Hau Giang River by ferry to Can Tho, a bustling market community and one of the most prolific agricultural regions of Vietnam. The next morning, visit Cai Rang and Phong Dien Floating Markets, which is considered one of the best floating markets in the Mekong Delta. Get some great photographs of boats loaded with fresh fruits, coconuts, vegetables and fish. Explore the floating market of Can Tho and to Saigon.
